الترميز هي عملية تحويل المعلومات النصية أو اللفظية إلى رموز تمثل فئات ضمن نظام التصنيف. لتسهيل عمليات معالجة البيانات وتخزينها ونشرها.

Coding is the process of converting verbal or textual information into codes representing classes within a classification scheme. to facilitate data processing, storage or dissemination.
